Privacy & participation
This is Ray Joseph’s personal half-marathon project. Each live song, sound, or spoken-message request requires a verified donation. No account is required. Rehearsal requests are free; any emergency free-request mode is identified on the live page.
Fundraising and donations
The live page identifies the selected charity: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through Tiltify, or the selected cancer charity through the charity. Donation links open the selected platform, where its own privacy and payment terms apply. This site does not collect money or card details. When donation matching is open, a verified eligible gift releases one request: $5 for a sound, $10 for a song or spoken message, or $15 for a priority song. If you select priority and give $10–$14.99, your song is accepted as a regular song. Below-minimum gifts do not release a request; separate gifts are not combined. A larger gift still releases only one request. The same gift cannot be reused. Tiltify matching uses a private checkout reference and authenticated donation records; the charity matching uses a private request code and independently checked the charity records. A saved checkout keeps its original charity if the live selection changes; a checkout return or a claim of payment is not proof. Requests remain held until verified. Giving never guarantees playback.
Your supporter-wall choice
Each new request asks you to choose Public or Anonymous. Public permits this site to show your chosen display name and verified donation amount in the recent feed and top-gifts list. Anonymous permits the amount in the feed under “Anonymous supporter”, without a name or leaderboard entry. Nothing is preselected. Existing gifts without this permission stay private. These choices apply to this site; Tiltify has separate display settings.
We store the choice with your request and retain the verified amount and completion time. Pending, failed, refunded, and test donations are not displayed. The wall covers donations linked through this site, not every donation to the campaign. Names are never taken from payment or account records. Public gifts are ranked individually; matching names are not merged into a person’s total.
What you send
The site stores your selected song, sound or message, submission time, browser receipt identity, and sharing choice. The main request form no longer asks for private notes, reply emails, or shout-outs. Previously submitted private notes and reply emails remain private in the event database; rehearsal retains its existing controls.
What becomes public
Song titles and playback times may appear publicly. Your nickname and note are included in public attribution, the reviewed replay, or the project video only if you opt in. Email addresses are never included in public responses. Ray’s approximate location is public only during the live race; the reviewed workout route may appear in the replay afterward.
Services and storage
Cloudflare handles site delivery and may process network information. Searches are sent by the server to Apple’s catalog service. Album artwork loads from Apple; visible map tiles load from OpenStreetMap. If a project video is available, its YouTube player loads only when you choose to load it. A browser cookie links your private request receipts and request allowance. Older versions also store receipt IDs locally. No advertising analytics are installed.
The experiment
Priority songs are chosen before standard songs. Within each tier, race-day requests come before advance requests, with random selection inside each group. The fallback playlist fills gaps. Sounds play at most one per song gap; short spoken messages play over music. Explicit songs are allowed. Songs must be seven minutes or less; podcasts and spoken recordings are excluded where identifiable. Availability is checked again on the phone. Submission does not guarantee playback. Ray can skip, pause, or end the session.
Recap and retention
Video rendering happens in your browser. Downloads stay on your device until you choose to share them. The organizer reviews the workout route before publishing; song labels may be public, while names and spoken messages require publication consent. Donation matching stores gift identifiers, request thresholds, payment status, evidence fingerprints and audit references, rather than card details or full donor records. Private information remains in the event database and its backups until the organizer removes it.
Questions or removal
Use the contact options on Ray’s portfolio for privacy questions or to request removal of your contribution. Include enough information to identify the contribution without sending sensitive information.
An anonymous browser cookie links your saved requests and enforces technical request limits. Technical limits prevent spam and oversized queues. It does not verify that visitors are different people. No account is required. Clearing cookies or using another browser creates a new visitor.
